Draggin’ Main Block Party

Multiple local non-profits & organizations partnered together to present the inaugural Draggin’ Main Bock Party. The OptiMystics collaborated with the Monte Vista Chamber, the LOR Foundation, SLV Fast Friends, the City of Monte Vista, and the Mystic Valley Art Council to bring this new, exciting event to our downtown area.

This street festival took place on Saturday, June 3rd, from 3-8:30PM. The 100 block of Adams Street was shut down, along with 2nd Avenue, from the intersection of Adams St, up to the alley ways both east and west. We had local art & craft vendors, food trucks, beer, and live music from Ol’ Scatch. And of course, lots of cool cars showed up. Special thanks to Larry ‘Animal’ Garner & SLV Fast Friends for putting on this event.

The block party was a wrap up to the Draggin’ Main event that took place earlier in the day. The Draggin’ On Dirt website has even more information on what happened throughout the day.

MUSIC:

Well known San Luis Valley band Ol’ Scratch provided really enjoyable musical entertainment. They took the stage starting at 4:30PM and played for about an hour. Then there were announcements, awards, prizes and more before they took the stage again and performed until about 8PM.

Local Businesses:

Many of our local businesses were open and offered specials throughout the day. It was great to see so many people supporting local and shopping downtown.

Rain Brews, 104 Adams St offered import beer specials all day long. It was also the place to be once the event closed, for the after party, party.

FaeMoon Wolf Designs, 122 Adams St, offered in-store specials throughout the day.

The Mystic Valley Art Council had their Community Art Space open at 122 Adams Street. Their next outdoor 3rd Friday Art Walk will be on June 16th.

Local artist Jennifer Graves held demonstrations of her unique artistic creations at Pareidolia Gallery, 125 Adams Street. Not only that, she had her “best day ever” since opening!

Get Crafty, at 126 Adams, is a new craft supply store that opened on Cinco de Mayo this year. Michele was on hand all day and welcomed lots of new visitors.

Yours & Mine Variety Store, also known as DaisyGrace Boutique, 129 Adams St offered 10% off store wide during the day.
