South-Central Colorado Micro Brew Fest & Car Show

ANOTHER GREAT EVENT IS IN THE BOOKS…

  • When: Saturday, August 21, 2021.
  • Time: 10AM until 6PM.
  • Where: Chapman Park, 300 W Prospect Ave, Monte Vista, Colorado.
  • More: Beer tasting, a car show, music, vendors, food and more.

Working in conjunction with the Poor Boys Car Club, the OptiMystics Citizens Action Network hosted our inaugural Micro Brew Fest and Car Show. The festivities took place all day long in Chapman Park. There was music, over 2 dozen local vendors, great food trucks, games & activities, a bounce house, over 80 awesome vehicles and a scavenger hunt. It’s estimated that over 3,000 people were in attendance. And San Luis Valley Broadcasting (KSLV, 96.5 The Fox) covered the event live throughout the day. THANK YOU to everyone who came out to enjoy the day.

The Car Show

Judges for the Car Show:

At 5:00PM, there was a procession for many of the cars, over to Veterans Community Living Center at Home Lake. The parade of cars left Chapman Park, proceeded east along Highway 160 to Sherman Avenue, and then went on to Home Lake. So the Veteran’s at Home Lake were also be able to enjoy seeing some of the great vehicles that showed up for the Classic Car Show.

You can find out more about the Beer Fest and Car Show plans in this great pre-recorded interview that aired on KSLV and KYDN Radio. Listen as General Manager Bob Richards interviewed OptiMystics Founders Ken Hamko and Adam Lock. We were also joined by the Poor Boy Car Club President Richard Garcia.

Many attendees tried their skills at an escape room adventure. Hall’s Way Escape Room Adventures is the first mobile escape room adventure of its kind in the San Luis Valley and was at this event. Those who tried it dove into the historic Old West to explore true Colorado history! Based upon little known facts about the Unsinkable Molly Brown, teammates had to race to find Molly’s hidden treasure before time ran out!

The entire weekend was full of events that took place throughout Monte Vista! Visitors enjoyed the weekly Farmers Market, 3rd Friday Art Walk, the Native American Artists Fair on Friday, Saturday & Sunday, the Amish Schools Benefit Dinner, and more.
